KidzArt, Part 4

Here's the last batch of projects I made as a KidzArt instructor. This is about half of what I made during my time teaching there, as we were encouraged to raffle off our samples to students each week. I only have physical copies of a few items. Some I scanned before giving them away. Others, I didn't. I really wish I had.

This owl was a lot of fun to make. I can definitely see how it inspired me on a future project.

We used flair pens and moist q-tips to create "Three Views of a Shoe." That was really fun. 

We drew this duck using styluses on soft copper, then colored it with Prismacolors. 

I made a paper version too. I like it better. 

As KidzArt instructors, we were encouraged to submit our own ideas for possible future projects. I thought it would be really fun for the kids to do a treasure chest using metallic watercolors. I submitted this:

I'm not sure if it ever became part of the curriculum because I wasn't able to return as an instructor the following school year. I'd planned to return, but over the summer my manager told me she wanted me to teach 3-4 days a week instead of the one I'd been doing. Even though I was teaching kindergarteners, I wasn't allowed to bring 4-year old Trevor to classes with me, so working that many days was out of the question. I still don't understand why I couldn't continue doing the 1 day a week job that they'd originally hired me to do. Oh well!

I should mention that I only have experience with one KidzArt franchise and its owners. I don't know how my experiences compare to others'. The KidzArt franchise I worked for has rebranded and is no longer affiliated with KidzArt. I'm not sure how the existing program differs from the previous. While I'm still bitter about how it ended, overall being a KidzArt instructor was a good experience and I had a lot of fun.
