Playing with Type: Helvetica Recontextualized

I've been continuing to work my way through Lara McCormick's outstanding book, Playing with Type. Today's challenge: "Create a one-word type specimen using three-dimensional materials with Helvetica as your base." The examples in the book include:

• a series of four plastic flowerpots shaped like the letters GROW and planted with ivy
• the word CLEAN spelled out with laundry on a bedroom floor
• the word SHAVE written on a bathroom mirror using shaving cream

I knew right away what mine would be:

I started by printing the letters BAKE on paper. I rolled out pie dough, placed the first template on it, and used a toothpick to poke all around the edges of the letter.

Remove the template, then use a knife to cut out the letters, following the poked holes. Transfer the letters to a baking sheet using a spatula. Here you can see BAK ready to bake. If you look carefully at the dough on the mat, you can see that I've already marked the E and am ready to cut it.
