Inspirational Quotes

I used to have a notebook with a pink floral cloth cover, about 6" tall and 4" wide, that sat on a shelf in my living room. I used my favorite black pen to write quotes in it, using my tiniest printing. It meant a lot to me. It has been missing since 2004 when I got married and moved into the house we live in now. Did it get lost in the move? Could it possibly be somewhere in our house, 14 years later? If so, where could it possibly be? I don't have anything that's remained boxed up since we moved in. Could I have tucked it somewhere? I never would have voluntarily gotten rid of my notebook, but all these years have passed and it hasn't turned up. I did a bunch of cleaning this weekend and was really hoping it would magically show up, but no.

My notebook was about 3/4 full the last time I wrote in it. Every time I added something new, I went back and reread everything that was already there. I loved going back through the quotes, remembering why various quotes had spoken to me when they did. The quotes were inspirational and thought-provoking, chosen to help me guide my young adult self toward the person I wanted to be. I'd love to look at it now from the perspective of my 46-year old self looking back at the girl in her 20's who started writing down things other people had said.

Back when I still had the notebook, I'd thought about doing some sort of project with my quotes. I never did. And now I don't have the notebook. But I decided that would not stop me. I'll never remember the hundreds of quotes I'd written down, but I do remember a few quotes that mean something to me. So I did something with them. Specifically, I created a basic template in PicMonkey and made these:

My plan is to create collages of four quotes, print them, and put them in a 4x6" photo album. It's not the same as having my notebook back, but the idea makes me happy, so I'm going with it. I'd love to hear any quotes you find especially thought-provoking, inspirational, comforting, or otherwise meaningful. Let me know in the comments!

  1. I'm sorry for the loss of your notebook...especially since the loss was non-voluntary!
I understand what the notebook means to you.
I wish I had kept some of the journals from my teenage life.
And it's knowing that encourages me to try to document pieces of my life in journaling-form, AKA not "scrapbook"-form, as well. I've been slacking though. Thanks for the reminder! BTW - great quotes! Looking forward to your project, because unlike me... I know you'll follow through, LOL

  2. Sorry to hear that you lost that book! :( I did a mini album of some of my fave quotes awhile back, and I still look upon it now and then. I am loving these quotes!

  3. I have a similar notebook and I am so sorry you lost yours! BUT, you can be sure that the quotes you remember are the most meaningful ones that were in there. I like your project idea.
One of my favorites from my book, that I repeat to my kids all the time, is from Henry Ford - "If you think you can, or can't, you're right."
